When should I expect?

Well, I'm not really an expert. :p

You're not going to like the answer... but it is... it varies.

I find my roos start to crow at about 4-5 months old, but have had some start as early as 3 months, and las late as.. 8 months. As for laying, mine usually start around 6 months, but can be as late as 8 months, with my early starter being 5 months.

It will depend on their strains and individual bird so it's a big range of what it could be. It's always a waiting game with chickens!
 
thanks so much for the reply silkiechicken. I have some young chicks between the ages of 11 weeks and 4 months. Havent had any growing yet..LOL

Since winter is on its way My young hens will they wait till spring before layin or may I catch a egg from them this winter. Wont be adding nothing special to the coop to make them lay just letting nature go to work.
