My chicks wean themselves off their MHP at 4 - 5 weeks, with night time temps in the 30's. So.... IMO, they don't need it. They may still like it b/c of the security it gives them. Turn it off, or give them a huddle box. Be sure you block off your nest boxes to keep them from sleeping in them.

Nesting Boxes are blocked off. I'll take the heat away maybe when I cut the grass this weekend, extension cord in way, if u guys really think it's cool to do so.

Did you mean that as a pun???:lol:
I c what u did there.... ;)

Yea they are never under it anymore except forums to sleep.

Which brings me to another question they spend most of their time in the run do I need anything besides roosting bars and nesting boxes which are blocked off right now in the coop? What I mean it is boring in there I have all the action in the Run.

Of course all the action is in the run. It's outdoors! There's bugs, and grass, and soil to dig in. The age at which they roost at night time is variable from one clutch of chicks to an other. Some broody hens take their babies to the roost at 2 weeks of age. Some brooder raised chicks go to roost early, and some are still pig piling in a corner at 10 weeks of age!
