When I placed my order in February for this year's chicks, I couldn't get them delivered when I wanted. I had to wait a month.

When do the hatcheries usualy begin taking orders in the new year? I'd really like to get the end of March delivery next year if I can. ( I ordered from Meyers.)

Next year I plan to do what I did the first time I ordered chicks. Order them in January (or as soon as the hatchery starts taking orders) to get the best selection, but ask for delivery in April. I brood my chicks outside and as far as I'm concerned, springtime is the right time for chicks. I don't want to take a chance on them freezing on some post office loading dock.
