When should I put a safety hole in a call duck egg?

Hey, so ive got pastel and penciled here, I feel kinda bad because it was kinda awkward holding the ducklings with 1 hand in order to take the picture.

But do you think this says anything about their gender?

you think I can tell by their voice?

The ducklings are 4 weeks old today!
Like Mare said..
Color doesn't tell ya a whole lot at that age because Drakes typically feather out in female looking plumage first. Then they have a juvinile molt and completely change.

What!??!?!?!? Pastel has white on his/her chest? This picture isnt from a great angle, but there is a bit more white than it seems like, im unsure if its just fluff or feathers

If you take a close look at the picture, I think they might be new feathers of white, so confusing!

its always little pastel who has crazy things going on 🤣

This is a crazy duckling, I am so confused as to what is going on, I think we will just have to wait to see what happens, of course I will update you guys

I am starting to wonder if I should contact the seller to see what they think, maybe there was a mixup or something, because this little duck is very different from a normal pastel as far as im aware

Also, do you think its time to move them outside to their coop? I have a big pen for them that I just cleaned and got ready today. I have electricity out there and could hook up their heat plate

What are your day/night temps like?
pretty hot, its 80 right now fahrenheit and for me its 9:00 pm

lowest it will be for tonight is around 60

And that seems pretty average for the next week

Also, temperatures will be at a high of around 90 at the hottest, I dont know if they should have their pond yet, what do you think? They have lots of shade in their pen
I know their pond will keep them cool, so perhaps I should put their pond in, although I worry about not watching them while they are swimming while they are this young still

You just don't want them to have unsupervised access to any swimming water they cannot very easily get out of until they are fully feathered. The down doesn't waterproof as well as feathers and if they get too tired from swimming and waterlogged...
Drowned duckling.
With those temps though I think they would be fine outside. Probably don't even need the heat plate as long as they have some cover.
