Hey all. I just put my 1 little baby that hatched yesterday eavening in the brooder about 1 hour ago. She is not interested in eating and drinking water at all. She is crying alot. Will it take a bit for her to start eating and drinking???? Thanks everyone!!!

No worries it will stay alive for 48 hrs or more with out food or water. But the little baby will find the food and water remeber to keep the chick warm. good luck Matoe

If you only have one, it will cry. Baby chicks/ducklings absorb the yolk and this provides sustenance for up to 72 hours. Once in awhile, dip the beak into the water to introduce it to the chick. It will catch on sooner/later. You might want to find another chick at TSC or somewhere to keep it company as they need company. If not, try something fuzzy like a stuffed animal until you can find one. Congrats.

Thanks guys for the help!!!!
