when shouldi begin to feed my hens layer pellets

Just looking for a simple answer. I have 7 hens that are around 18 weeks old 2 of the hens have started laying eggs daily and the other have not. Should I switch to layer pellets? go with a half and half mix of layer and stater? or just stay on starter till there all laying? I don't have any oyster shells to suppliment yet but can get some very soon. What you thinking i should do here? thanks

When bag is empty switch to layer

You need oyster shell or crushed egg shells immediately. After a couple eggs, the calcium stores in the medullary bone is gone.

I have a full bag of starter still and also have layer avaliable

So you have a full bag left.. I'd still feed it out.

Feed out the staryer, but supply calcium as ChickenCanoe said by offering oyster shell.

I'm not a super experienced chicken person but I would mix the two feeds and use them both together. Get the oyster shell and put it in a separate feeder. The ones who need it will use it.
