when the fridge is full of eggs nobody buys

When I have a glut of eggs I head to the tavern. Sold 25 dozen today for $50 plus a few beers and won $30 and two six-packs on four shakes of the dice. Not bad for an afternoon.

I suppose it varies by state. I don't know what the Wisconsin regs are. Many are sold directly to whoever is in the tavern at the time, although I do have one bar owner who takes 20 dozen a week from me. He resells them at cost.

I don't know of any egg seller's licensing in Wisconsin. I did some checking and USDA grading and inspection is voluntary. In Wisconsin most of the requirements are for packaging; must have producers name, must have date packed, must have warning labels, must be in clean cartons. Although they also state that any eggs that wouldn't meet a USDA grade of B or better can't be sold for human consumption...

While grading may be voluntary, that's not to say that the restaurants aren't required to use USDA graded eggs. I don't know...

I know what ya mean..We currently have 7 or 8(I lost count) eighteen packs in the fridge..they are startin to slack off a little..beings I have 6 that have gone Broody..was getting 20 or more a day..this week its been 16 or 17 so far. I been trying to sell what I can and have given some away here and there.

Check the store where you purchase your feed. Alot of feed stores also sell organic/fresh food for humans. My feed Store pays me 3.25 a dozen and sells them for 4-6.00 depending on size.

He didn't say he sold TO the tavern. He said he went to the tavern

I use to take orders all the time from my bar buddies and then deliver the next day. (I soon found out, I make more money staying OUT of the bar than selling eggs IN the bar)
