when they start laying is there anything we need to do?

just wondering if i should put more shavings into the coop? they've been getting extra super calcium and lots of food. just wanted to know if i could do anything.

You'll have issues with them laying in undesirable locations. It always happens. When it starts use golf balls/fake eggs/hard boiled eggs in the desired location for laying to school them on where they need to lay. If they haven't started laying yet then put some golf balls in the nesting boxes to inform them of where they should be laying.

Other than that- enjoy your fresh eggs! They are delicious. I have ruined my family for eating out at breakfast. We have the best eggs from our backyard hens, the best bacon from pigs raised in our backyard, and the best coffee from our Keurig coffee maker. Who needs to eat out when you have the best of everything at home? Now, if I can only train the 5 y.o. daughter to cook and the dogs to serve it...
