Hi,
We received 13 adorable penciled runners and 2 Dewlap Toulouse from Holderread 3 weeks ago. They are all sharing a pen at the moment with outdoor access. I am using a temporary net fence and moving it more than once a day. They are mowing the grass down quickly, and needless to say pooping all over. I am anxious to let them roam but we are on 5 acres with a pond. When is it ok to let them come and go on their own? When is too soon for the pond? Last night they "put themselves to bed" for the first time. Prior to that I was herding them in about 7pm.
If the general thought is another month or more, I might just try moving the fence to a new grassy area daily that isn't attached to their pen. They herd pretty well with a stick.
Thoughts? Thanks!
Kristen
