when to butcher chickens

so this is the first time I'm raising chickens to eat.... but I don't know at what age is good to start butchering.... my chicks are 6 months old and are pretty big....

It's recommended to wait until your birds are 6-8 Ibs. (Depending on the breed. ) I'd wait until they are 10-14 weeks old.

Hello :frow and Welcome To BYC! X2 on try the Meat Bird forum TwoCrows gave you the link to, it is mostly personal preference, like Mountain Peeps said, people usually wait until they are a size they like more than an age since they grow at different rates.
