When to butcher Cornish-X meaties????

My birds are 9 weeks old plus but my husband got called out of town so we can't butcher until next week. the last time i weighed them they were only 6 - 7 lbs. I have always only fed them like 3 times a day with them pretty much living in a tractor and outside in a fenced in area. I noticed mine are slow at gaining which is probably because of the feeding schedule. I am not sure if i want to do this again. We bought 12, still have 12 and will butcher 12. They are stinky things but fun to watch. ~Laurie

We didn't restrict the feed for our birds this year, we started butchering the largest at 5 weeks an continued to take the largest each week finishing up at week 7. This gave us a fairly uniform size dressed bird, we lost one out of 50 in the last week due to heat. I would not want to bring this type of bird through the summer heat, I'm afraid the birds would suffer too much.
