I have eggs of unknown age in the incubator-most look to be within a few days of hatching. Momma got off the nest when two hatched so I put the remaining 12 in the incubator sat. mon into tues two pipped and hatched. tues a third did. I also pulled a rotten one tues. Last night i candled the rest and found another that had pipped. At that time it was chirpy and active. that was around 4 am when i got home from work. its now 9 30 am and although he is still moving around he is much less active and not chirpping. I have been asking a million ?s since this is the first time I've ever done this- and it will be the last- mommas are so much better at it. Someone said no help until 24 ish hours post pip- but does that apply even if there is a change in "attitude"? I have to leave the house for the day cause I sit with my friends kids while she is at work and am nervous that things will get worse while I am away, but I don't want to "help" if its not needed. Yet another reason I am never letting this happen again!!!

If the membrane is hardened and dried you will need to help it you can gently pull off some not all of the membrane with a pair of tweezers do this very carefully see-if the chick can then move around and fully hatch on its own
