When to help? When to worry?

Understand we are not out of the wood works yet, he could actually still decide to quite on us, he's been in that shell for soooo long, everything is smashed inside and he could decide, ok I've had enough.

He seems like a very strong and determined little guy though so will help him get stronger.

Btw do you have that stuffed animal ready??

Also if and when he gets out, he will be very weak, this is normal with this kind of surgery, if you don't have some you may want to go to walmart and get some polyvisol without iron in it. One drop will give him the little boost...

It's baby vitamins.. Just what he'll want once he's out..

At 11 send me a pic, do not wet him at this time. I want to see if there's any progress, then we will wet his membrane, send another pic to see if he's dried up some, then will proceed with the surgery..

If all goes well he should be out with in the next four to six hours, that brings us to about 3 inthe morning..

I warned you it was going to be a long process. Lol

Well done Krissy, I'm sure your nerves must be shot, but I'm so impressed that you are giving this your best shot.

Lacrysto, it's great that you help out, when it's your first time normal hatching take so much out of you but this is a whole new level. Your help and experience is a pleasure to watch.

My duckling is chattering and having a rest, but I think I have many hours to go until he gets out. He's gone quiet now, think he is having a 'nap. My other two didn't make a big hole when they were hatching, they seemed to hatch over several spots that joined. This one made the hole and keeps pushing into it, I hope he can get out that way. The other two are asleep in the brooder and my house is very quite right now - other than the occasional chunter from the shell.

I need to grab an hours sleep but I will be back! LOL

Pretty sure the second one is dead. Theres a bubble at the top, not the end where it should be. And it's all cloudy. I think I'm confident in that without losing my dinner, lol.

He's squeaking and wiggling and pushing. Had to stop watching for a bit-I have a very jealous kinkajou trying to eat his way through the incubator. So I'm gonna feed that little poop head and show him some love for a little bit

Are you giving them 24 hours in the incubator after they pop out??
