When to introduce chicks to flock?

I have 24 12-week old Production Red Pullets that have been isolated and fenced off from my 40 1-year old hens for 6 weeks. When can I introduce the chicks to my flock? A while back, one of the chicks slipped out and my hens severely injured her. I am afraid that I have super mean adult hens and they will hurt my younger ones. When is a good time to introduce to the flock?
