when to leave the coop

my chicks are about 7 weeks old and i think its about time to let them leave the coop. But ehen the get out and i have to chase them back in they alwayse run up a hill by the side of the coop. they hill is very woody and it is hard to find them some times. Any suggestiones???

Maybe a temporary pen made up of tomato stakes and chicken wire, or netting?

You have to keep them penned up until they learn where 'home' is. They would probably come back on their own at night time, but being that young, I'm not sure.

They may just need a couple more weeks in the brooder/coop.
