I have had my chickens for 7 days as of today. They have spent the entire week inside their coop (See my BYC page for pictures). My question is when is it safe to let them out for first time? I want to make sure they are imprinted on their new home.

You should be good. The main thing is that they poop in there new house. Then they know where they belong.

Well it is 2:30 and I just let them out. They are sticking near the coop and a bit skittish. I gave them a bit of scratch to let them get to know me better and hopefully they will go back inside in a couple of hours when it gets dark.

I let them out for a little a couple hours to see how they would act. I will let them out for longer tomorrow. I am just worried about neighborhood cats even though i have a fence. Plus i need to let my dog out and i need to get him familiar with them. Here is a pic of them out hanging with the peafowl.
