When to move to coop????

Im glad I found this thread!I have 7 chicks that are about 3 wks old and I was wondering when I should move them to their coop, its been between 40s-50s at night and 50s-80s during the day with rain alot!I live in kansas and we r having crazy weather here!I am doing the decrease the temperature in the brooder by 5° each week.

I just put my 5 week olds outside today with no heat. They are doing great! We even had a splash of rain fly by and not even a peep! I have to put up their roost and coop tomorrow (tonight they are sitting under a ladder and a piece of plywood in their pen. I couldn't wait for them to go outside and experience life in their sanded coop/pen. Wow - they LOVED it! Within 30 minutes they were giving themselves dirt baths in the sand, chasing bugs, eating some grass that stuck through the hardware cloth... It's supposed to get down into the mid 50s tonight and I'm not worried.

It's so much fun watching chicks bust bath for the first time. :pop

Sometimes the look like their playing dead... All rolled over covered in dirt

I plan on putting my chicks (16) in the coop with 3 month old ducks (4) when the chicks hit 6 weeks. I figure with all the roosting space they'll be fine

My chicks turned 3 weeks on Monday and I'm counting the days until I can put them in the coop. All it needs is a roost and bedding. I also need to finish the run. The night temps are in the mid-high 60s here (eastern nc)

Mine are about 4 weeks (some a bit older) and they lived in the house for 3 weeks. That was a long three weeks!! They are now living in the coop/tractor, but since it rains all the time lately, they are in the garage. It's been mid 80s in the day, down to maybe 65 at night so just a lightbulb in the coop at night. Today it's cooler, in the high 50s so I hung the heat lamp for them, but they seem to be doing great, kinda rowdy actually. I filled a big tub with peatmoss for dirt baths and it's a hit. They look like they are having seizures, but clearly like it. If it ever stops raining, I'll work on getting them out of the garage next.

I only have a spear bedroom I can keep them in,I figured in a week or so ill turn the lamp off and have the window open when the temps get a lil higher.but I cant put them in a garage to get them use to the outside air.just a room and Windows.lol I take them out when its above 80 for a bit, they love it!
