I am collecting my first set of eggs from the backyard for incubating. I've been checking fertility and They've been fertile. How long do i have to let the eggs set before placing in the bator?

The sooner the better... but you should hold out until you have enough for your hatch cycle.

You don't want a few chicks hatching every other day

Wait until you have how many you want to hatch and join your flock.
I used to set 6-12 button quails at a time.

they can set on the counter for 4 days to 3 weeks depending on who you ask.. someone else had a 6 week old egg develop and hatch...
i think it's safe to say from your own yard a week is fine.. i've put some older than that in... but turn them a few times a day...

but you can put them straight from the hen into the bator... i did that with my last hatch.. we started it, and about an hour later my son comes in with a fresh egg, still warm and asks to put it in the bator..

Thanks all! I collected the last bit today so I'll set them tonight
