When to reintroduce?

Some of my chickens are sick. It's not coryza as there's no foul odor... so I'm assuming it's CRD.

They've been separated for around 5 days now from the flock. They all got shots of Tylan 200 for 3 days. Though, I'm kinda worried... should I have used Baytril for this instead? We had the Tylan readily available, so that's what we used.

My question is -- how long should I keep them separated from the others? They're all doing remarkably well - I'm glad I caught it early. I know with Tylan, you shoud wait at least a week before starting to consume their eggs again (but with this nasty cold weather, we haven't been getting very many eggs anyway).... should I wait to reintroduce them until then?

Are there other things I should be doing to prevent this from recurring and/or spreading?!

Just checked on them & they're all looking great. I'm not sure if I should try & reintroduce them today or not.

Before you reintroduce be sure the rest of the flock is symptom free. I would let them roost and then walk around them and study them all carefully. They generally will put up a bit of a racket, but usually that is about it. Listin for raspy breathing, watering eyes, pasty nostriles and a bird that lookds like it has not preened itself for awhile. We went through this about a month ago. It took about 2 weeks for everyone to get sick and another week for them all to recover. I had about 40 percent of them get ill and two of them did die. I am not sure why the two died, but i think it was weakness other than the disease that just brought on complications. Unfortunately, these two were a nice polish and a sweet little silkie. I will not be able to replace them. Good Luck

Yeah, I've been carefully inspecting the rest of the flock three times a day... always listening for raspy breathing. I've seen no others that appear to be plagued by this ailment.
