I'm new at raising ducks and now we have 7 ducklings which hatched on July 1st. Just wondering if and when do I remove the ducklings from their momma duck. Please adviced. Thank you.

Well what would be your purpose for removal? I don't, i leave my mama's to wean them on her own. My duck produced are far better versed in the ways of the farm that way.

usually by 3-4wks most mama's are leaving them for good periods but that depends, my one mama duck here, holds on even past 8wks and guards them babies like they were day olds.

No reason to remove them. It just my first batch of ducklings and I dont know what to do. The only reason I would want to remove them is for Socialization purposes with Humans. I also heard I'm not suppose to feed them medicated starter feed is that true? Thanks for all your help.

I see, yeah no reason too, frankly way easier to let mama take over, if you start bringing treats, lettuce(romaine) chopped up finely is a good example that will help the brood come to know you. I had to do this with my March hatch as it was winter and no greens available, they still to this day check to see if i am bringing something lol

Yes, medicated is better to be avoided, here a care of duckling link that should aid you.
