We have just had our first bad hatch. We had 19 eggs in lock down on this past sat. nothing started till this Mon. . Fist chick out died instantly.
Second chick out alive . third chick piped blue tiny bubbles and died with in an hour. 4th chick died after zipping around the egg and almost out. 5 through 8 normal hatch and smooth then chick 9 hatches with a long what at first look like some of her inners. Really thought she was a gonner ! this morning she was alive and all was good. So she was little bumpy but alive.

Now we are into tail end of day 24 and no sign of life. Thinking in given the last ten eggs till end of day 25 and pulling the plug. This is a hard one for us to call and are will to take some sound advise. We beleave we figured what went so wrong this time from going through our logs and reviewing what we did different from our first hatch which was 90 % . We had alot high and low humidity and then the swap to the hatch with two very short but high temp spikes. one being 104 and one at 109 for abouyt 15 minutes or so each. ( still air LG will become a force air soon.) .

Either way this hatch has had alot of emotional lows. The hard part is going to be culling the eggs and see what might gone wrong.

At this point, I usually take the eggs out and candle them to confirm there's no movement before I toss them. Congrats on your new babies!

Thanks ! They are all little blessing. 4 Buff Orps and 2 Barred Rocks will get some pic soon. Plus pics of our last hatch babies that are 2 weeks.
