Best time to sell is whenever you have a buyer

Sorry I have no experience selling....hope someone can give you a more serious answer.

Interesting...I am in the same boat...did my first hatch...and only want to keep a couple out of 10 chicks and sell on the rest...my plan is to keep them till spring and sell as 'started' chickens...a couple of reasons (I thought)..

1. gives me time to see who is boy/girl...

2. allows me to see which birds are growing into beautiful birds I want to keep.

3. maybe? it will be easier to sell young birds rather than chicks?

anyway that's what I am PLANNING on doing...and again I have not done this before...? any comments about this post would be helpful on others experience...

thank you for the info Dwegg. i really beleive the started chickens will bring a ton. more money. prlly $2.00 at auction. chicks were i live go for around $.10 at auction! im thinking to do the same thing you are thinking of. thank you to the replyers

I sell mine once they are able to function without their mother. That way, I can't tell if they're boys or girls, and they sell much faster

That's a good point. The buyer takes on the gamble of the sex being what they wanted.

The only solution to that situation would be to raise Sex Links.

Sell them as day olds via craigslist or whatever.

No feed bill at all, can get much better than $0.10 around here.

If you are trying to raise some for yourself and selling off the culls, then 16 - 20 weeks is a good age to sell them off.

Good luck
