When to separate for breeding?

I have some yearling (9 months old) Peafowl, BlackShoulder, India Blue's and White's. I also have a BlackShoulder male that will be 2 this year. I know they probably shouldn't breed this year, so is it ok to keep them together this year, in a large flight pen with a big shelter? I saw 2 of my India Blue's, who are 9 months old, he was on top of the female doing his thing... I saw them several different times, and assume they are just practicing, since they are so young? I want to keep each sub-species separate when they start laying eggs, but I was thinking the hens would be 2 before that started.

You should be able to keep them in the same pen, your right they will not breed until they are 2 yrs old, also peachicks a week old will strut and fan there tails (both sexes).

The 2 yr old male will be old enought to breed, and in some cases a yearling hen will lay.. I alway keep older males with yearling hen, and have hatched eggs from them. Rare but they do lay sometimes.(india ,not greens)
