I have turkey and cornish chicks togather when should they be sepprated They all came from the hatchery togather Now they are two weeks can they stay togather or do they need there own pens ? My question is from reading about black head . am I safe because of them beeing togather from ther start
Thank you Paul C

We seperate ours at about a week - after the poults are eating well. The only reason we seperate is we feed them different. The poults get 28% protien the chicks 19%. After about 8 weeks or so we drop the poult protein level down to 19% and we often put them back together again to grow out.

Chickens can pass blackhead to turkeys but the blackhead has to be there in the first place. Quite a few people raise them together. Your local AG agent can tell you if's it's a problem in your area.

I seperated mine when it was time to go to freezer camp. I feed
my broilers, fryers, and turkeys all the same 26% broiler feed I
get in bulk from the mill. I know it's not perfect but it worked well
for me.
