My husband read some where that the first eggs a hen lays should be thrown out. I am wondering if anyone knows why and when we should start eating them?(He can't remember why just that you were supposed to.

The only reason I would not eat them is if they were recently wormed or vaccinated. I had no problem eating my first chicken eggs, they were delicious!

I don't have a definitive answer for you, as I'm anxiously awaiting my first egg as well, but I know I've seen many comments from people on here who ate there first eggs with great enthusiasm. Perhaps others will weigh in on this. I'm curious if your hubby is correct...

I eat the first eggs and they were delicious.

Only throw out the eggs if you have medications that would pass down from hen to egg.

I would suggest you wait until breakfast..

we always cooked the tiny pullet eggs for the smallest child and told them it was laid just for them...
