ITs been a couple years since I have raised chicks and am trying to remember... how old do chicks need to be before you switch them from starter to grower? What is the difference in the feed? Thanks for your help!

What is the difference in the feed?
Protein, depending on the brand. Starter is 20-22% protein.
Grower 15-16% protein.
Depending on the brand, says to feed Starter till 6/8 weeks.
Grower from 6-8 weeks till 18-20 weeks, then switch to a Layer feed. Follow directions on your Brand.

Myself I like to feed a Start & Grow / Starter-Grower feed with 18% protein. I feed Medicated for 10 weeks then when bag is empty I switch to Non-Medicated. GC

What is the point of the medicated feed? Is the medicated feed just fed for a period of time “before” the chickens start laying?
Thank you
