Hi, I am new here. 5 chicks have hatched and we have more that we hope will. When do we take the newborns out of the incubator? How long does it take for them to be completely dry? We have the next little indoor home for them ready with heat lamp etc.

Thanks!

They can be taken to the brooder when they can walk around really good and look fairly alert and are dry usually with in 12 to 24 hours. Test the surface of the brooder with a thermometer and see if it is at least 95º and that would be the optimum temprature for them. Just be sure they have water and food available they are curious and will need something to peck at.
