When to take them out of the auto turner?

I have some bantam cochin eggs in the bator. First try at this, so here come the questions. What day do I take them out of the automatic turner? do I do anything with them once they are out of the turner? WHat humidity level? How long after they hatch before I put them in a brooder? what mistakes do I need to keep from making? I am on day 13 (They went in New Years day around noon, so actually does today count as day 12 or day 13?) Am I being too technical about all of this?

Remove from turner around day 18-19.

You remove the turner and lay the eggs down on their sides for hatching.

Add water so that humidity comes up to about 65-70% relative humidity.

Make sure you have proper ventilation..this varies depending on what incubator you are using.

Nope, not too technical..questions are good and can help prevent mistakes.

One last note..once they start hatching..do not open the bator until the hatch is complete. Trust me.

You'll enjoy more chicks in the end if you do not disturb the hatch. They can go for several days without food/water, so don't worry about that. While they are hatching, prepare your brooder and have it warm and cozy for when it's time to move them. Good luck!

Thanks for the answers, I will wait until day 19 I think, I put the majority of them in on 1-1-08 (I see a new New Years tradition in the making here) and added a couple the following two days. So that should get me in around the same time for them all. If I start getting worried, you'll all know it pretty quick, I'll be on here looking for advice and suggestions.

I candled the little critters yesterday, 9 out of the 10 had movement going on inside!!! Now I'm getting nervous. They went in on 1-1-08 around noon, then I added 2 on 1-2-08 and 2 more on 1-3-08, so now I need some suggestions on the next step. WHat I was planning on was taking them all out of the turner on Saturday (1-19-08) and turning the last two to go in a couple more times by hand until 1-20-08. Does that sound good, or do I need to just leave them alone? Of course I will up the humidity the last couple days too. I guess I better get the brooder ready, not long now!!

Not sure how the last 4 eggs you set will do, unless you have a hatcher to put the first batch in raising your humidity for them might do in the other eggs.....your first set are going to need no more turning after day 18 and humidity increased to 60 to 70%...the other two and two are what might not hatch with high humidity early....or have problems...but the turning them by hand would be alright...

I think your plan sounds fine, altho I also don't think you need to be concerned with turning them the last extra day or so either. Either should be just fine. Just make sure your humidity is up as soon as you see a pip (crack in the shell). Good luck with your hatch..you must be so eggcited!

I'm afraid I might be hooked. I'm already thinking about future hatches. I am hopefully getting some Buff Orps soon also, and well lets say I may end up with a large flock. But as the saying goes, I'm not going to count my chickens until they hatch.

I candled them at day 8 and day 14. Do I need to candle them again when I take the turner out or just let them go?
