According to the instructions on my chick feed, at 6 weeks I should transition to something called "Grow feed"? Is this what you all did? Anything to look for as far as top quality grow feed?

My feed is starter/grower and I feed it exclusively for the first 4 months or so. Then I mix it with a little layer and grit, gradually adding more layer and less grower until at about 5 1/2 months they are on straight layer. If you have "starter" it is probably finer ground than the grower and you can go to the grower really any time you want to.

Some areas don't have grower feed, and it is OK to leave them on the chick starter until about 18 weeks of age. Follow the information from Gina and gradually add in the layer feed when it is time.
