When will a rooster start crowing?

My barred rock cockerel is about 6 weeks old. At what age will he start making some noise? I've heard him make some crazy god awful weird sound once in the morning before he was fed but it wasn't much. I want a noisy lil guy lol

but be wary once crowing he will try to mount girls aswell

its all about testosterone

My two bantam roosters began crowing at 9/10 weeks. -suppose that it varies by breed as well. I'd say that yours should be sounding off within a few weeks!

I have silkies. The youngest I've had one crow is 9/10 weeks and the oldest was by 3 months.

mine is crowing at 6 weeks. My Easter Egger and another 6 week old

Can you get a picture of its back-end? That's where it's easiest to tell pullets from cockerels.

From looking at the comb it looks female to me... however, a backside picture should tell you more... how old is the pullet?
