when will be full grown

I have 6 week old bantam chicks and I was wondering when they are done growing. Can I expect them to double in size still or just get a little bigger?? They seem so small still.

roughly around 20 weeks

You didn`t mention a breed. brodavid77 is right about most of their growth done about 20 weeks. However, the birds will not reach maturity until around their first birthday. Egg laying should commence in the 6 mont range.......Pop

I was wondering the same thing about my standard size leghorns. They are currently 6 weeks and I am wondering if they will double in size or just get a little bigger. I know when I got them I was told they will start laying around 16 weeks...am I to assume they will be done growing at that point and it's about twice the size they are now?

I agree with the other posts. Most of my pullets started laying between 20 to 24 weeks. They are as tall as the hens but theirs bodies aren't as full. I had a couple that started laying at 17 weeks and one that was 27 weeks before she started laying.

I have bantam chicks of about the same age and mine are also maturing slowly. I still have some in the brooder because they just aren't getting their feathers as quickly as the others and I'm concerned about them getting cool at night. Despite the fact that most of my bantams are growing slowly, I have 2 little Cochins that are about a month old and just as fluffy as they can be with feathers. I guess it varies in each bird because a couple of others born the same day as those have much less feathers.
