Maybe not, thought he might feel more secure, you could roll up a towel to make a barrier from the other chicks. Anyone else--what are your thoughts?
Yes, if they are all only hours old they will mostly sleep in which case I think he's better off cuddling with his flockmates.it was really cute. one chick came up to it and i though it was going to peck at it. instead, it just curled up net to it and they cuddled
the cardboard looks a little thick.
I like to use thin cardboard like from packaging small items

I also trim the boot around the edges so there is no open tape (so bedding doesnt stick)
I use teeny tiny baby scissors to trim the boot while someone else holds the chick. watch the back toe & the toenails.

I would remove some of the tape from the ankle area. Not sure the technical term. The booties should also try to get the curve from foot to leg to be more anatomically correct.
