when will my chickens lay there 1st egg ?

I have 16 chickens that were hatched 10/15/08 they are light brahmas, rir, barred rocks,bo,and Americanas. They should be at laying age right?

I'd give them another month and they should be laying, maybe 2 months for the brahmas.

I have five RIR and BO pullets that were born 10/1/08 - just a couple of weeks before yours. Three just started laying about a week ago (two BOs and one RIR) and two haven't laid yet (two RIRs). In fact, the two non-layers haven't even started squatting for me yet. So yours should be getting close, I would think.

Edit: I should point out that I live in Albuquerque, and the weather's been absolutely gorgeous here lately. That might be helping move things along a bit.

i think your real close i think it's at about 20 weeks give or take a couple but it depends on the chicken

The correct answer is the day after you decide that they are never laying and you give up.

Yeah, they'll probably start around 21-23 weeks.

I have 10 white leghorns, one laid at 18 weeks to the day. The others took a little bit longer.
