I have three coturnix quail and they are 6 weeks old. The male is crowing but the females aren't laying eggs yet. How long do you think till they might start laying?

If you see the Roo jumping the hens continuously then yes spell the hens for a week of his attentions, watch for signs of abuse, for example feathers missing on the back of the neck of hens. Assuming they are getting enough protein (25 % plus) & maybe a calcium supplement ( I just crush chicken an quail egg shells) and light (14 hours), your hens should start laying anytime.

Yes not enough hens. I have 9/1 ratio and I always get 9 eggs every day and everyone is happy and eggs are hatching good ;)

Thanks for the info!
We have three females and two males, all 7wks old. We did the correct sexing of them yesterday. Today, there was a nest in one corner of the hay and when I came out after supper, one of the hens was laying in the corner. When she got up and ran away and there was an egg there!

If you only have two hens, they'll start laying a lot sooner if you get the roo out.

Two hens is not enough, for a single rooster you need at least 4 hens.

He is probably overbreeding the hens, stressing them out.

My hens usually start laying about 5.5-6 weeks, many others take longer.

If nothing, two hens is not enough for a breeding setup. if your rooster is normal, he will overbreed.

if you want fertile eggs get at least two more hens, I prefer 7/1.

if you want eggs to eat, separate the roo.

If you live near me, I can fix you up.
