I have three gold laced wyandotte chicks that are about 11 weeks old. Does anyone know a range when specificly GLW's start to lay? Thanks

In my experience (none with Wyandotte but with other chickens), they usually start laying around 11-15 weeks. So you are very close and to encourage them, put a golf ball in the nesting area. Good luck :)

? Most commonly kept breeds actually start laying closer to the 20-26 week range, even the later end of your range is going to be more the exception than the rule with super layers/fast maturing hybrids.

I agree with old grey mare. With pure breeds 16 is the earliest I would even expect eggs with most breeds. They don't even recommend switching to layer feed until after 16 weeks. But unfortunately wyandottes mature slowly you have a while. Sometimes taking up to 28-32 weeks

I stand corrected!

In fact, I incorrectly stated 11-15 ... I got math wrong .. I was approximating 5-7 months
