When will my hen start laying?

I have a silver duckwing old english hen that my cousin gave me a couple days ago he doesnt know how old she is because someone gave it to him but she looks to be 6 to 7 months when will she be ready to lay eggs and when should i provide her a nest and how can i work on taming her because she squaks and flaps wen i try to grab her

If she's young and has never laid before, you could be getting eggs any day now. If she was laying prior to changing homes, you might not see any eggs for another few weeks. If she's over a year old, she might be getting ready to molt, and you might not see any eggs from her until spring is on the way.

Most chickens start laying at 5 to 6 months old.
