Okay, I got my baby chicks on March 25 from tractor supply. I'm guessing that they were 1 week old there or maybe 2 weeks. Anyways, it is august 4 now, and I am wondering when they will start laying! We just go the layer pellets by Dumore

and they are almost done with their starter grower probably one week left. It is okay if I give them the layer one week early right?

Chicks must be 18 weeks or older to start having the layer feed. Your's can have it if they were hatched in March. They should start laying any day. Pullets generally start laying anywhere from 18-30 weeks. Watch for large, red combs, nest box investigating and lots of singing.

Oh thanks! I thought that they needed to be 6 months, but I guess I will be expecting a first egg any day... for the next 22 weeks!

I voted 'Tractor Supply', we actually got them at another farm store. Mine started laying at around 18 weeks.

Wow! So I may be actually getting eggs sooner than I thought. I just recently went out to my coop and saw that some of the hens had nice large combs!
