Can you post individual pictures of the hens?
Ok thanks I was really hoping they would start to lay soon and also for some reason I can't post a picture . I read somewhere that if your rooster tries to mate them they r almost ready to lay which I have noticed is that true?
I still have my first brood of chickens and they are RIR. They are some of the most happy layers and happy chickens in general that you could have. They were hatched January 21, 2014. Their combs and wattles were nice and red for a while before i got any eggs from them. I have noticed lots of people saying a Rooster has something to do with it....yes and no. Every chicken is different and will lay when ready. My Roo was raised from a baby with my hens and was always dominant and mounted them a while before they started laying. Not necessarily does a Roo help them to start laying. Yes they do help keep productivity up after laying has started, but i dont think he helped them to start.I have 6 RIR hens. They are 23 weeks old. One laid at 19 weeks, next at 20 weeks and got a third egg today. 3 still not laying. They've had bright red combs and wattles for weeks!
what about the third one and thanks so much .I'd say the first will start within 2 weeks and the second a month or so still
