I have 2 production reds and 2 rhode island reds the production reds will be 19 weeks Tuesday and the rhode island reds will be 18 weeks Tuesday when will they start to lay?
24-28 weeks I believe is average for RIRs and your productions reds can start laying anytime now. One of mine started laying really early at just 15 weeks old. Hopefully you get some eggs soon!
A lot depends on their feeding regimen, and the available hours of daylight when they become sexually mature. Hatchery birds are likely to lay earlier than birds from a breeder. You'll know that laying is imminent when their combs and wattles are swollen and waxy red, they sing the egg song, they squat, they spend hours playing house in the next boxes.
