When will my pullets start laying?

Y'all I just thought about another question I had on this subject. I hope someone is still listening.... I have set up nesting boxes for my girls, who are as mentioned above 11-15 weeks now. I have dummy eggs that I put in the boxes. I know it's still a bit early for my girls to begin laying SO should I take the eggs out or is it ok for them to be there? And will they even actually show them to lay there? Thanks again!

Btw I have not forgotten to do this! I have been a little busy prepping my home and animals to be left while we go on a mini vacay but when I get back I'll get to snapping some pics!

It won't hurt anything to have dummy eggs there for however long it takes. And yes, when they start looking for suitable sites, seeing an egg there encourages use of that spot.

Reply #2 but just had to do that was perfect! I love how informative yet to the point you were! I hate trying to read through all the space filler to find the important and coveted info in some articles, blogs, etc. Thank you again for sharing. I feel like it may be getting close for one of my little Cochin bantams (16 weeks old) bc I have noticed her face becoming increasingly red (I thought she was sunburned ). Also my FBCM face is slowly getting redder and a little puffy looking around the eyes too (she's prob around 16-18weejs but she's the only one I don't know for sure) Anyway I don't want to get too excited but now I kind of am!

My Australorp and my mystery girl, are getting redder and bigger wattles/combs! I'm getting close. Cant wait!
