When will my roo not look a doofus ?

He's 8 weeks old and looks like a doof . Doesn't even have full wing feathers yet ,and just a few shoulder and tail " sprouts " and the girls have looked like little adults for weeks. When do the roo's finish feathering out ? He's a buff orp , if breed matters , for when he gets full feathers.

Large breeds can take much longer to feather out. Many of my orpingtons aren't feathered until nearly 12 weeks.

My girl orps have been pretty for quite some time and the roo is just now at 14 weeks looking less plucked and just started to crow yesterday.

My roo was scary looking at that age! It took him about 4 months before he started looking pretty.
