When will my Silkie go broody?

My Blue Silkie pullet has laid her first eggs. I intend to let her raise chicks. She does not seem interested in sitting at this point. When might I expect her to go broody? I was wishing for chicks before it gets cold. She is around 6-7 months old. She is in a large chicken tractor with her mate. Thanks

There is no real reliable predictor as it is up to the individual hen and her hormones. Being a silkie, you have a great start and chances are she *will* one day go broody. That said, I've heard of a silkie who never was interested in brooding.

I have the opposite problem! my 2 Silkies are BOTH broody at the moment. Gotta find a way of breaking them of it soon. Ugh
