When will new chickens lay eggs?

My son bought some laying chickens at a auction and brought them home. How long until they begin to lay eggs again? It was 70degrees yesterday and today it is going to be a low of 30. Looks like a website full of information I look forward to reading through the information.

my understanding is that it isn't the temperature, but the amount of daylight that effects laying.

i have brought home chickens that had already been laying and got an egg from them the next morning.
