We brought home four 18 month old hens last night. So excited! We have 3 Rhode Island Reds and a New Hampshire Red. These are our first chickens so we're very "green". Any tips for making our new girls comfortable in their new home? They're so entertaining and chatty! Our kids are totally stoked and so am I.

! Pleased you joined us! 18 months or 18 weeks? Most chickens, depending on breed, will lay any around 22-26 weeks, give or take. So, if yours are 18 weeks it ought to be pretty soon. If they are 18 months that should be in their prime for laying. But if you just brought them home last night and they have been laying, the change in location will upset their rotation but they should be back to laying in a few days. Good luck to you!
