At what age will spurs show on an EE - I hope not on this one. Thanks

I have a six month old EE roo who is fully functioning in roo capacity but has no spurs. He does have nubs where the spurs grow though.

Long spurs are the *last* rooster trait to emerge, really. You should be able to tell gender by feathers etc long before then.

Good luck, have fun,

Pat

I agree. My almost 14 month old brahma rooster barely has them and believe me he's all boy.

As you can tell by the answers it is determined by the breed of the chicken. In some cases you will be able to tell the sex of the chicken by the feathering more so than the appearance of spurs. Also some hens can show signs of spur growth so I would judge more on feather development.
