WHen will the BR hens start laying???

I currently let my turkeys free range and need to know when I should keep them penned for breeding and laying.

THey were hatched early last summer about July 4th and hens run with male siblings and dad.

Would like to have hens bred by old Tom rather than brothers.

If she doesn't have artifical light at night then she should start around March or April. It is all triggered by the amount of daylight they get.

Thanks, Colby. I knew it was light triggered but I didn't know how much light for how long. I'm struggling with how to have 8 mo old heritage BR ready for market in the weeks before THanksgiving. Looks like lights are necessary to accomplish this. TY
