When will the eggs come?! Ameraucana

Hey guys! I've got 3 ameraucanas all at 20 weeks old. I suspect one may be a cockerel but oh well. The ones I think are female don't seem to be anywhere near laying! Does anybody know the approximate age when they do start laying?

The average age of lay is usually 20-24 weeks, but I've always noticed that Ameraucana/Easter Eggers tend to stray closer to 24-26. I had one who didn't lay until 27.

Thanks!! It makes me so paranoid that all three are cocks lol my australorp mix didn't lay till about 26/27 weeks. I'm dying to see their colors! If I get some pics today could you take a guess at the genders??

Sure thing. Ameraucana/EEs are notoriously difficult to sex, but at 20 weeks it should be pretty obvious which are which - most cockerels would have shown themselves (crowed, mounted) by now, so I'll probably just be confirming pullets for you.

I agree. We've had very similar numbers with our EEs. If you can post some pics we'd be happy to confirm their gender for you. )

All four look like pullets to me. They are EE's, Ameraucanas breed true and lay blue eggs, EE's are mix breeds that do not breed true and can lay almost any color eggs. They are getting close to lay, but from the combs I would say you have a few more weeks. EE's are great layers and fun birds.
