My girls are 28 and 29 weeks. Our BR laid her first egg last week and has been laying since then. No one else is laying. Our PR is the same age as her and she hasn't laid. The other 3 (Americauna, GLW, and BJG) nothing.

Any idea when the rest of our girls will lay? We are in Southern CA so our weather is pretty mild. Maybe they need extra lighting? I dunno.

Thanx!

Temps don't have a lot of influence, but some breeds are VERY sensitive to the lack of daylight length, now that winter is coming. They seem to do OK, if they turn 25 weeks in September, but yours' turned that age in October. That's tough. The daylight is usually the culprit. You have a choice. You can just wait, as your breeds are late bloomers, or you can add a little pre-dawn light for a few added hours. Entirely up to you.

Your GLW and JG should be laying any time. In fact, mine were much younger when they started laying. Lighting never seemed to affect them much until they got older. They were very productive birds. EEs can be much slower, and they are not the best layers- unpredictable and prone to going off-lay for the slightest reasons. I had one that laid young, but I had another that was 40 weeks old before she laid her first egg.

Are you feeding them a high quality feed?

Yes. They eat organic soy-free layer pellets, which they just started eating. Prior to that they were eating organic soy-free from VA. Our PR and GLW are squawking like crazy! They will stop what they are doing and just stand there and squawk.
