when you are settling eggs -when to turn them

I need to settle my eggs but i don't know when and how often to turn them. Do you have to turn them even at night? How long should it be between each turn?

Eggs need to be turned roughly three to five times a day. You don't have to turn them during the night, but it's important that they rest on a different side each night. Most people write an X on one side an O on the other, then make sure that each night it's opposite of the previous night.

Automatic turners turn them once per hour, but that is not necessary.
