When your city friends just don't get farm life. :(

I guess I can't relate. My chickens all go to bed at sundown. Ordinances say I can't even let them out til 9AM.... They're some of the lowest maintenance animals I've ever owned tbh...

Not only have I fit bars into my schedule but when I *am* busy my city friends never made a fuss about it. Chances are good they're more likely to be busy than I am tbh.

Sounds like either you need better friends or more efficient care techniques/automation. Not that anything I have is automated by anything but gravity...

That’s frustrating for sure but like someone else mentioned you should try to make time for yourself sometime ❤

Do you clean your coop every day? I promise that really is not necessary ❤ Might save you some time. Although maybe for the ducks it is 😂

And I’m sure you have to let the dog out and feed all the mammals but do you feed the birds daily too? All mine have feeders that last a little while but I do fill water daily and check everything.

They might be on to something with getting the birds a bigger feeder though. Or maybe you could feed and water in the mornings?

Might not work with your job though. And I’m guessing during the week you have to work the next day too? So going out wouldn’t really work anyway even if you had time?

Personally going to bar in a pandemic does not seem like something I want to leave my cozy country life for.😅Maybe your turning into a introvert like me....nothing wrong with it unless you need drama in your life.
Your friends should love and appreciate you for who are and be considerate of your chosen lifestyle and hobbies. If they get mad because you keep turning them down and they don't want to visit you then maybe its time to just let them go. There is a poem Called "A Reason, A Season and a Lifetime." that comes to my mind. look it up!

Yeah that’s true too. My chickens and quail really are the easiest things ever even though I have a lot more of them now haha I have big feed and water containers so I don’t need to fill them very often (though I usually do top off the water anyway) and I just clean when I notice it needs it which is more often nowadays with more birds but still not too often. All I really have to do is check them daily (sometimes multiple times) and get the eggs. And let them out when I feel like letting them free range. Not a necessity.

That said though, I’m guessing all the mammals might be more work??? But my cat is easy too as I leave her dry food down

I have 8 adult rabbits, a litter of kits, 3 dogs, and currently 18 chickens and a dozen eggs hatching right now plus 400sqft of garden. :p Now, my rabbits are farm animals, not pets, but still.

I do agree with the other poster who was like bars in a pandemic(!?) though. I haven't been out to a bar in many months. Like, if you just don't wanna go that's OK.

Oh wow that’s awesome! :love I had grand plans for the garden this year but didn’t end up planting most of it 😂🤣🙈 still getting a fair amount though just didn’t do the variety I wanted.

Anyway, I also have a cat, two parakeets, 4 goldfish outside, and currently I think 21? chickens and 8 quail (down from 20) 😂

I work from 7am to 5pm. My city ordnance does not allow for any build up of waist so it is necessary to clean the duck house daily. As for feeding I have other animals besides the chickens, ie: the rabbits, that absolutely must be fed fresh greens every single day to stay healthy. They are house rabbits and don't go outside unsupervised. So I must tend to them. I also keep the pond very clean because it is a landscape pond that i made into the duck pond and the filter will clog if not kept clean. Yes there are things i could give up to make life easier on me but then i would not be as happy in my yard. I have a set up that is meant for guest but as i said. No one comes over. I have seating, a fire pit, all that and more, even a hot tub. The few city friends i do have that come visit enjoy many of the animals it is just most of them don't try. They want me to make all the effort all the time.

I don't go to bars, because I'm a minor.

But your right, bars in a pandemic sound like a nightmare (our gov. Shut them down thank god.) So do lots of other places XD.

Thanks. I will. ^_^

They just don't know the good long lasting feeling of contentment when... Your pets welcome you home, your pets treat you like your their best friends, seeing they are well nourished and have a nice clean bed. That is a good long lasting good feeling! A night out? It's a good feeling while your there, but... It's not eagerly waiting for you to come home! You have to experience it to understand
